Tis the season for a statement necklace to go with your holiday dress! Tired of the traditional giant jingle bell on a rope? We think this super simple update on the jingle bell necklace is just the thing.
Gather your supplies:
Tools: Jewelry pliers and cutters or scissors
Materials: Jingle bells (I used 1.5 packages of 0.4” bells), jewelry wire (I used 18” of 0.024 diameter 7 strand cable), 2 #2 crimp tubes and an S clasp.
Cut 18 – 24 inches of wire (you can snip of the excess at the end, so it’s better to start with a generous amount). Thread a crimp tube on the wire and then add your clasp and thread the wire back through the crimp tube in the other direction. Snug the crimp tube close to the clasp.
Use your pliers (or special crimp pliers if you have them!) to squeeze the crimp to secure. Snip off the excess wire.
Start threading on your jingle bells.
Shake them down the end as you go to fit them as close together as you can. After about 8” stop every inch or so stop to check on the size. Keep adding bells until the necklace is the length you prefer.
To finish, add the other half of the clasp in the same way as the first part was added. Leave about 1/2 inch of space between the last bell and the clasp to allow the necklace some flexibility and make it easier to put on. Snip off the excess wire.
And that’s all there is to it!
Enjoy your new jingle bell necklace. (Note: don’t wear this for any ninja activities because everyone will be able to hear you coming!)
