DIY Washi Tape Cord

Have you ever quickly grabbed a charger while running out of the house for a trip only to later realize that you grabbed the wrong one?

It’s been a problem for us ever since Apple switched from the 30-pin connector (which we all had a zillion of) to the new lightening connector. Our iPad uses the new style, but the phones need the old one. Discovering you put the wrong cord in your suitcase when it’s late and youre in a hotel far from home is not a good feeling.

Here’s a simple, colorful solution – washi tape!

Wrap the entire cord, keeping the tape at a diagonal angle so that it will overlap itself slightly as you go.

It’s an easy project to do while watching tv or chatting with friends.

Plus, it looks really fun!

One last step – put a small piece of the tape on the matching gadget!

Looks like a great idea but…. what is washi tape?

Hi Joyce – Washi tape is a kind of paper tape, often with fun colors of patterns, originally from Japan. It’s kind of like masking tape, but a little thinner so it’s sometimes translucent. It’s very fun (and addicting!) to craft and decorate with. This Buzzfeed article has a lot of fun project ideas: http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/56-ways-to-decorate-with-washi-tape

Where can you get cool washi tape online? Where did you get the one you used for this project?
    Thanks!
